We warmly invite you to a talk on the following question: What does discrimination feel like in everyday consumer life, and how do people deal with it emotionally and practically?
Within the research project DEVGAV, conducted in cooperation with ConPolicy, we examine situations in which discrimination becomes tangible in ordinary consumer contexts, for example racialized suspicion in retail spaces, digital exclusion in banking and shopping apps, or persistent barriers in public transport. Based on narrative interviews, we analyze how these encounters are embodied, emotionally processed, and negotiated in everyday life.
The talk will present selected insights from this research and discuss how discrimination is experienced, interpreted, and acted upon in everyday consumer practices.
Date: 15 June 2026, 16:00–18:00
Place: Habelschwerdter Allee 45, Freie Universität Berlin, Room L113 (seminar centre)
Hybrid participation: Registration via Friederike.Rosenbaum@fu-berlin.de
